Great News....

Great news as reported by the Associated Press today:

SAN FRANCISCO - California's Supreme Court declared gay couples in the nation's biggest state can marry — a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony.

Same-sex couples could tie the knot in as little as a month. But the window could close soon after — religious and social conservatives are pressing to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

"Essentially, this boils down to love. We love each other. We now have equal rights under the law," declared a jubilant Robin Tyler, a plaintiff in the case along with her partner. She added: "We're going to get married. No Tupperware, please."

A crowd of people raised their fists in triumph inside City Hall, and people wrapped themselves in the rainbow-colored gay-pride flag outside the courthouse. In the Castro, the historic center of the gay community in San Francisco, Tim Oviatt wept as he watched the news on TV.

"I've been waiting for this all my life. This is a life-affirming moment," he said.

By the afternoon, gay and lesbian couples had already started lining up at San Francisco City Hall to make appointments to get marriage licenses. In West Hollywood, supporters were planning to serve "wedding cake" at an evening celebration.

James Dobson, chairman of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, called the ruling an "outrage."

"It will be up to the people of California to preserve traditional marriage by passing a constitutional amendment. ... Only then can they protect themselves from this latest example of judicial tyranny," he said in an e-mail statement.

In its 4-3 ruling, the Republican-dominated high court struck down state laws against same-sex marriage and said domestic partnerships that provide many of the rights and benefits of matrimony are not enough.

"In contrast to earlier times, our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation," Chief Justice Ronald George wrote for the majority in ringing language that delighted gay rights activists.

Massachusetts is the only other state to legalize gay marriage, something it did in 2004. The California ruling is considered monumental by virtue of the state's size — 38 million out of a U.S. population of 302 million — and its historic role in the vanguard of the many social and cultural changes that have swept the country since World War II.

California has an estimated 92,000 same-sex couples.

"It's about human dignity. It's about human rights. It's about time in California," San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, pumping his fist in the air, told a roaring crowd at City Hall. "As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation. It's inevitable. This door's wide open now. It's going to happen, whether you like it or not."

Studio Friday - The heart of your creative space

This is my first time participating in Studio Friday.  I thought that it was interesting when I found about it, so here I am.  The heart of my creative space is what we affectionately dubbed, "Mission Control".  It has all my beads and jewelry making stuff and all of our, well some our computers and alot of her Dj equipment.  During Christmas vacation my girlfriend and I committed to officially converting the guest bedroom into our office/ studio.  I must say that it had enhanced our creativity since doing so.  I have been shooting in black and white all weekend, so I am still stuck in black and white.

Design A Day #1

Today I joined a group over at Flickr.  You're supposed to create something new everyday for 30 days. So, here is the first design of the next 30 days.  I actually created two new items and here they are.  All available over at my Etsy shop right now and soon to be available at my own website, as soon as the redesign is completed.   One is Yellow Jade and the other Amazonite, which happens to be my favorite.

I've been tagged...

by Vanessaa.  I am pretty sure that you all have heard or know the rules.  If not here they are:  The first player of this game starts with the "6 weird/things/habits about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a blog of their 6 weird habits/things, as well as state this rule clearly: In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment on their page that says "you are tagged" and remind them to read your blog.

Here are my 6 bits of randomness about me:

1. I am a lover of all things crafty and artsy.
2. When I was kid and press on mails first came out... I use to make my own from white paper and Elmer's glue.
3. When cleaning the kitchen, I always feel the need to leave at least one item in the sink. I don't know why?!
4. I am slightly addicted to site meter....
5. I love to write random things on pretty paper with pretty pens.
6. I am definitely a blog whore....

This was kinda challenging.  I will tag Porsche, Val, Nikki, Cynthia and Monique....

Today is Friday....

Today is definitely Friday and I must profess that I have basically done nothing that was productive.... at all. Really, it's so true.

I did however manage to waste countless hours on istock.com.  I was looking for images that I wanted to use for the save the dates and for wedding invitations. While looking for discount codes for istock I happen to come across this nifty little secret game that they have at istock. All you have to do is find the hidden istock logo in the 4 out of 8 pictures I believe and they will give you 5 credits to use for images. Believe it or not, there was absolutely no gimmick. Check it out here.  However.... me being the indecisive Libra that I am have yet to decide what motif I want to go with. We are doing a destination wedding to Hawaii so I am stuck between a tropical/ coral/ seashell/ palm tree look. Then I happened to come across a crown that I really am loving right now. Ugggh.... there it goes again, my indecisiveness. It drives me crazy at time. I just know that I want this event to be stellar for my own personal enjoyment. Something about DIY'ing that gives me a rush. She did however tell me that I am limited in the amount of DIY's that She want me to do, since She want me to enjoy the moments. My darling fiance also understand the thrill that crafting gives me.

So here I am, still on sofa awaiting Her arrival, so that we can get ready to go out tonight to none other than the super sexy Kiss n' Grind. The Kiss n' Grind is a super sexy party with super sexy music and people that's held once a month in Downtown LA in an unassuming art gallery.  I can't wait.

Here I Am.....

Here I am.....Just moved my blog over here to TypePad and I am trying to figure out all of its cool bells and whistles.
